PS Welcome Back Package & Early Adopters - Incompatible?

So we have the welcome back page to look forward to. 5 PS3 games that have received critical acclaim and we get to choose 2 of them!

We should be happy right? Well if you're an early adopter, no. Dead Nation the only game being offered that is less than 12 months old, whereas the other 4 games are at least 2 years old.

The Welcome back package shows very little risk on Sony's part but also does nothing to "welcome back" early adopters.

Sadly it seems that those of us buy the games on launch date are being dubbed "whiners" But that's not the issue here.

The issue is that with Sony et al trying their best to stamp out pre-owned sales and putting online access codes in many games they are rewarding early adoption. However PS+ and now this package reward late adopters far more so than the early ones.

Yes, you can't please everyone granted and there will be alot of happy people out there who get to choose 2 new games that they've never touched before but to those of us who show the highest levels of PS loyalty we are frozen out.

Sony has detailed information of who logs in, logs out, frequency of purchases etc. It would have been very simple to correlate two pieces of data - frequency of use & early adoption - and subsequently offer something better to the most loyal PS users.

Sadly this won't happen meaning to those who are planning to buy LA Noire, Infamous 2, Red Faction etc it might be worth waiting to see if late adoption pays more dividends than being first in line.
